Russia sentences ex-US marine to 16 years in prison for espionage

The US secretary of state says his country is outraged by the prison term handed down to a former marine in Russia. Paul Whelan has been sentenced to 16 years in a maximum-security prison after being found guilty of spying for the US. The 50-year-old says he was set up, and he has called on President Donald Trump to intervene.
